Event Details

As regular listeners to the Vegetarian Food for Thought podcast know, Colleen Patrick-Goudreau has been sharing literary gems that illustrate our relationship with animals, our disconnection from them, and the fact that animals reside deep within our human consciousness. Expanding beyond simply reading short stories on the podcast, Colleen is extremely excited to create a global conversation about animals through literature by creating the Animal Writes Literary Book Club!

Although Colleen will be hosting a monthly online discussion of the books chosen, if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, please join us for our in-person gatherings, hosted by Colleen. LOCATION PENDING.

October's Book

Our October book is Plague Dogs by Richard Adams.

Synopsis: Often overshadowed by his more famous novel, Watership Down, Richard Adams’ epic novel The Plague Dogs follows Rowf and Snitter, two damaged and scared dogs who escape from an animal research lab and fight to survive in the harsh hills of England’s Lake District and in a human-centric world, whose cruelty they don’t understand.
